Story a day: 4.20.16

The phoenix arrived and the world burned.

The world burned away its sins. The hideous giants who’d stomped out the lakes and driven up the mountains burned to ash that became the sands of the great desert. The gods of old passed out of this world to be remembered only as the after-images of myths.

When it was done, the phoenix also passed on, burning itself as it had burned the world.
