Story a day: 7.5.16

The humans arrived one after another. It made him wonder if the species reacted to some silent cue, some shift of seasons or light that told them that now was the time to pick up their swords and load their mules and trudge to his cave to challenge him.

So it was that he felt no surprise when human footsteps echoed in his cave. He uncoiled and lumbered up to “stand” on his purple tail. It was good to look imposing when the humans arrived. It convinced some of them to run. As for the rest, well… He ran his tongue over his pointed teeth, as tall as some of these humans who intruded on his home. The rest would be dealt with.
