Story a day: 9.20.16

He watched the storm sweep toward him over the water, purple and black like a bruise. A woman stood on the beach, her arms raised as though she sought to embrace the impending fury.

He ran, swept into a tide of fleeing people. The waves growled behind him, rumbling onto land, beating flat the merchant stalls along the pier. He did not look back, afraid of what he’d witness.
